Lanes are pairs of origins and destinations, describing the route that the freight takes.  There are 3 types of lane used in SONAR, each described below

Truck Freight Lane

A route originating at one city (which corresponds to a KMA or XMARKET) and ending at another city.  An example qualifier is PHLMIA representing the lane from Philadelphia to Miami.

Air Cargo Lane

Air cargo lanes are represented as a pair of 3-character codes.  The available qualifiers are:

  • FRASEA - Frankfurt Airport to South East Asia
  • FRANOA - Frankfurt Airport to North America
  • HKGEUR - Hong Kong Airport to Europe
  • PVGEUR - Shanghai Airport to Europe
  • PVGNOA - Shanghai Airport to North America

Maritime Lane

Maritime Shipping Lanes are represened as a pair of 3-character codes.  The available qualifiers are:

  • CMED - China Mediterranean
  • CNAE - China North America East
  • CNER - China North Europe
  • ENAE - Europe North America East
  • ESAE - Europe South America East
  • ESAW - Europe South America West
  • MEDC - Mediterranean China
  • NAEC - North America East China
  • NAWC - North America West China
  • NERC - North Europe China
  • NAEE - North America East Europe
  • PANA - China North America East - West Spread
